Green Is In
Green is the reflection of a healthy environment, which is the quintessential element for the endurance of life on earth. Therefore, on 13th of September 2011, a "green-letter-day" in the calendar of JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani since the students took their first step to fulfill the pledge towards preservation of nature. It was heartening to see a group of twenty six students coming forward and taking the ownership of propagating the cause of conservation and restoration of nature. They drew posters, wrote insightful catchlines on this Green Is In initiative and hung them on the walls of the college, planted saplings and plants, cleared the campus of plastics, and other forms of wastes so that we can set to rights and revive the ailing planet and make it evergreen…
sSqure 2nd Annual Inductry Institute Partnership Summit
JIS Group Educational Initiatives organised sSqure – the 2nd Annual Industry Institute Partnership Summit. This event, jointly organized by IIPC & JIS College of Engineering, was aimed at helping students understand and adapt to the changes between campus life and corporate life.
Now that it is time for the recruitment process to start, students will be going for company interviews in pursuit of their dream jobs. However, students, while still in college, need to be aware of the climate of the industry that they will soon be joining since the industry has constantly changing needs and demands.
Squre was thus a platform where the Industry leaders were invited in order to guide the students with their own expertise, insights by sharing their own learnings and experiences, offering them encouragement, mentoring, and invaluable suggestions to show them the way forward.
Observed Mr. Preetham Singh (Head Resourcing - Global Technology - HSBC), one of the speakers at the programme, "Students need to prepare themselves for the developmental needs in the organization that they join, they must face their identity dilemmas, adapt to the changes in environment and move ahead successfully." A periodic appraisal of strengths and weaknesses is necessary, he felt, to help students make focused careers.
Other speakers included: Mr. Sutanu Chaudhuri (Chief People Office – Future Value Retail), Mr. Syed Raza (GM and Head-Recruitment, Fiserv), Mr. G Pratap (Director-HR, Mearsk), Ms. Sophia Almeida (Head-Corporate Recruitment – ATOS), Mr. Rahul Nandi (Country Staffing Manager – India & South Asia – HP), and Mr. Mushtaque Alam (Global Head – Syntel), among others.
Said Ms. Sila Singh Ghosh (GM-Corporate Communications, JIS Group Educational Initiatives), "Industry-institute collaborations like these are a great way to bridge the gap between the demand and supply of the industry. An event like this will equip the students to shape themselves for the work environment they will soon be absorbed into."
Aspiration 2020
Registration of the participating students for "Aspiration 2020" Student Programming Contest organized by Infosys has been accomplished.Teams from various streams and years are participating in the event and the first round of the said event will commence shortly.Mr. Rajdeep Chowdhury is the Faculty Coordinator for Infosys's "Aspiration 2020."
Baishe Shraban
8th & 9th August, 2011 -- Observance of "Baishe Shraban" on 8th & 9th August, 2011 at the New Auditorium.The event was marked by performances from both Faculties and Students.
Wipro Earthian
Registration of the Institution and the Faculty Coordinator for "Wipro Earthian" Student Paper Submission Contest has been accomplished.Numerous nominations for active participation in the Paper Submission Contest has commenced and Abstract Submissions are on.Mr. Rajdeep Chowdhury is the Faculty Coordinator from JISCE for "Wipro Earthian."
Tech Idol
15th August, 2011 -- Registration for "Tech Idol" Student Coding Contest will commence from 15th August, 2011 and active participation is observed for the said event.

Talk Show
11th March 2011 -- Organized a "Talk Show" and launched a Career Directory-"What Next,,", in association with BCCI. The career directory was launched by Prof. Bharati Ray-eminent educationist in presence of Prof. P.N. Ghosh-VC-Jadavpur University, Prof. Sabyasachi Sengupta-VC-WBUT, Mr. Taranjit Singh-MD-JIS Group and other dignitories from school, industry and media.
BCCI What Next
JIS Sumedha
Sumedha :- As part of CSR activity, JIS Group provides students' scholarship – "JIS Sumedha", every year to the deserving candidates. Under this scholarship 100% tuition fees are waived.
JIS Medha Juddho
"JIS Medha Juddho" is a quiz contest organized by JIS Group every year at 300-500 schools across West Bengal and cash prize / study aids / scholarships are being rewarded to the selected students.
